One game in, Phoenix Suns fans were excited for the future and happy after a blowout win. Four games in – and three blowout losses later – something needs to change.

The Phoenix Suns defeated the Dallas Mavericks in blowout fashion in their season last week. At that moment the future not only looked very bright, but on the horizon. Fans were excited.

Three games and three blowout losses later, it’s a whole new story. And not a good one.

Think about this: Phoenix won by 21 in their first game, then lost by a combined 56 in their next three.

We went from holding our heads high to barely being able to pick it up off the ground.

A blowout is never fun – when your team is on the losing side.

The last three games were exactly that. Depressing, in many ways.

This Suns season is already wounded. The first thing to do when there’s a gaping wound is to make the bleeding stop.

The Suns need to make the bleeding stop.

Or the end result will put them dead last in the standings.

Something NEEDS to change.

NOW.

Yeah, we’re only four games in. Yes, there’s 78 to go.

No, it’s not the wrong time for a change.

Especially for a team that fired their general manager just prior to the season. They clearly showed timing doesn’t mean a thing.

Only Devin Booker and Deandre Ayton have been showing up. T.J. Warren has been ultra-efficient scoring 70 points in 99 bench minutes.

The rest of the team is hit or miss. And a lot of times it’s a miss. They just decide not to show up. That is not acceptable.

Ryan Anderson is one of the proven vets that the previous regime acquired to show the young ones how to get to winning basketball.

So far, he’s been a complete let down. His shot is still on summer vacation, and even when it’s falling he doesn’t offer much else.

The defense has been non-existent. Best way to describe the Suns D right now is with the Oprah Winfrey meme…”You get a basket. You get a basket. You get a basket.”

*Face palm*

Isaiah Canaan, as much of a feel good story as he is after coming back from the type of horrific injury that he did, is NOT a starting point guard. That’s his role so far for these Suns. But he’s not good enough to do it with any regularity.

I think he’d be good fit off the bench, but not as a starter.

Devin Booker is not ready to play point guard full-time. He has definitely shown he can close as the lead guard and the ball should go through his hands on almost every possession. But, he needs help. He needs a legit starting point next to him.

That would mean the Suns need to make a trade. And that’s up to another team agreeing and Phoenix can’t be desperate in such a way that they sacrifice more than they should. So, that’s less likely.

Next. Ryan Anderson has been surprisingly ineffective. dark

However, roster changes can be made. In the starting lineup and off the bench.

Ryan Anderson should be moved to the bench. T.J. Warren should start. Trevor Ariza and Warren can handle the two forward positions. Also, Mikal Bridges should get consistent minutes off the bench. He’s shown he’s ready to help.

Only time will tell what the Suns do. But, it’s time for a change. The Suns can still salvage this season. But they need to do so before the bleeding is too much.
