Ranking each position’s need for improvement for the Phoenix Suns

Power Forward
Remember in the summer of 2016 when Ryan McDonough not only drafted one power forward of the future, but two? The Suns were suddenly stacked at a position which the year prior had been a position they lacked future talent in, and drafted two guys who we were told resembled Kristaps Porzingis and Amar’e Stoudemire.
Two years later, one is gone, the other is already half-way out the door, and the Phoenix Suns are starting a power forward who looks to already be washed up.
Phoenix Suns
Looking long-term, they have no prospects in the pipeline waiting for his time, and with the expectation that point guard might still be the most important position that needs to be upgraded, power forward might even be neglected in the next draft should that PG have to be found then.
At the moment then, if Devin Booker can handle the point guard position, power forward is by far the most important position in need of improvement.
In the short-term, Interim General Manager James Jones might look to facilitate a trade for a power forward, but stretch-fours are a golden commodity (see Kevin Love‘s new contract) and are hard to find, so if one does become available for some reason, either he isn’t that good or the cost will be great.
In the long-term, they might be able to draft one this summer (see Zion Williamson) although like Dragan Bender and Marquese Chriss, there is no guarantee that the draft pick will even work out.
It is possible that band aid can be found through free agency this coming summer, but will that player be any better than Ryan Anderson?
