Why is this good for the fans?
Fear not. Our franchise player will be back. Soon.
According to what General Manager Ryan McDonough said at Media Day, he may even be ready to play the season opener.
Even if he does miss time, it doesn’t sound like it will be much. And he will be ready to play at a higher level than when he left.
The aftermath of the bad news of his surgery should please fans – we get a chance to watch his drive, leadership, and will to learn and develop.
This offseason, the roster was upgraded around him. This is the best Suns team he’s been on since being chosen with the 13th pick in the 2015 NBA Draft.
There are a lot of veterans around him and a lot of experience to surround he and number one pick Deandre Ayton.
By being injured, he gets to grow off the court and gel with the new head coach as well as all the new players that have been added to this team. He also gets to study them and be ready to play next to them.
More importantly, he will know how to win with them.
All things being considered, Booker missing time from surgery should have a positive improvement on this team. As much as the roster was upgraded over the summer, this will give them all a chance to gel with each other more.
For Booker, it is a blessing to be forced to work on his left hand, which in turn will improve his shooting accuracy and score more points.
Overall, this should help the team win more games. And that’s what it all boils down to in the end, isn’t it?
Don’t be bummed out. I’m hyped up.
In Booker’s words. “It’s a very special season. I can’t wait.”
