Brandon Knight

Knight was originally acquired in one of three three-team trades all taking place at the 2015 trade deadline. In order to receive him, Phoenix shipped off Tyler Ennis, Miles Plumlee, and a protected 2018 Los Angeles Lakers first round pick.

2018 first round pick

The pick was eventually used to select Mikal Bridges by the Suns after it’s re-acquisition in 2018 from the Philadelphia 76ers, but it’s first acquisition was in the Steve Nash trade to the Los Angeles Lakers.

Miles Plumlee

Plumlee was originally acquired as part of a package from the Indiana Pacers for Luis Scola, who as mentioned in the Chriss trade, was acquired in an amnesty auction.

Tyler Ennis

Ennis’ acquisition tree was surprisingly complex because of one specific player:

Ennis was drafted by the Phoenix Suns in the 2014 draft (18th overall), but the pick was originally acquired from the Washington Wizards as a future draft pick in 2013, with Emeka Okafor for Shannon Brown, Marcin Gortat, Malcolm Lee and Kendall Marshall.

Kendall Marshall was an original draft pick of the Suns and Shannon Brown was originally acquired by the Suns as a free agent.

Malcolm Lee was acquired from the Golden State Warriors with Archie Goodwin for Nemanja Medovic. Nemanja was acquired as a 2013 first round pick (30th overall) from the Lakers in the trade for Steve Nash.

Marcin Gortat was acquired from the Orlando Magic as part of a package in which Phoenix shipped off Earl Clark, Jason Richardson, and Hedo Turkoglu.

Phoenix had drafted Earl Clark with their own pick while Turkoglu was acquired for Leandro Barbosa and Dwayne Jones. Barbosa was a acquired from the San Antonio Spurs for a 2005 first round pick (David Lee was eventually selected), while Jones was a free agent acquisition.

Jason Richardson was acquired from the Charlotte Bobcats for Raja Bell, Boris Diaw, and Sean Singletary.

Bell was first acquired by the Suns as a free agent.

Phoenix had traded D.J. Strawberry for Singletary, while Strawberry was acquired through Phoenix’s own second round pick.

Boris Diaw was acquired in the 2005 Joe Johnson trade sign-and-trade with the Atlanta Hawks, while Johnson had previously been acquired from the Boston Celtics as a rookie for veterans Tony Delk (who was a free agent acquisition) and Rodney Rogers (who too was a free agent acquisition of Phoenix’s).
