Having not played a single regular season game for Duke, all anyone has to go on with Zion Williamson are high school mix tapes, three college exhibition games, and hype.

A whooooooole lotta hype.

So at the moment, who knows where Zion will land in the draft.

There is some guarantee, however, that unless Zion totally and completely falls apart (or is charged with some heinous crime), he will  be a lottery selection in 2019, precisely where the Phoenix Suns are likely to select at least once, and possibly twice if Milwaukee’s pick falls somewhere between 4 and 16.

The Phoenix Suns just might have the opportunity to select Zion, and possibly add that third – or fourth (c’mon Josh Jackson!!!!) – young star to the mix, potentially building a dynasty of drafted players, not too unlike what Oklahoma City had and what the Golden State Warriors are now.

In his most recent mock draft, ESPN’s Jonathan Givony placed Zion third overall, exactly where he has the Phoenix Suns selecting. If you have ESPN Insider, you can read that post here.

For additional insight, nbadraft.net has the Suns with the number one overall pick for the second consecutive year, meaning that if Zion looks to be a capable player, they would absolutely have the opportunity to select him. You can check out their 2019 mock draft here.

Spoilers: nbadraft.net has the Suns selecting shooting guard RJ Barrett with their first overall selection.

If Zion is good enough at Duke to be a top pick, would the Phoenix Suns be select him?

as their roster stands now, the odds are that Phoenix will still be in need of a power forward of the future, so if they select by need and he is on the board, one would have to assume that he very well could be their pick.

Only time will tell though, as Zion has to play about 30 more games to solidify a general predicted draft range, and the Suns need to play their full 82-game slate then deal with the bouncing ping pong balls of the lottery to know if the two have any chance of matching up.
