#4: Jared Dudley (6-7, 240 pounds, 2008-13 and 2016-18)
The Suns acquired Dudley along with Jason Richardson and a pick for Raja Bell and Boris Diaw.
At first thought to be just a throw in, he ended up being so much more than that. He was a key player in the 2010 playoffs, where he made 42 3-pointers, and he averaged 10.6 points in the 2010-11 season as well.
Dudley was a fan-favorite in part because of his journalistic style videos with teammates on Twitter.
Dudley re-signed with the Suns in 2016 as a vet leader and re-bonded with fans via Twitter before ultimately being dealt to the Brooklyn Nets. He will always be a Sun, and will always have a place in the hearts of Phoenix fans.
#3: Rex Chapman (6-4, 185 pounds, 1996-2000)
Chapman was another true fan favorite.
If you don’t remember him, maybe Game 4 of the first round of the 1997 playoffs versus Seattle will help refresh your memory. Phoenix was down 3 with 1.7 seconds to go in regulation, and the Suns were up 2 games to 1 in the series. Jason Kidd inbounded to Champan, a pass that seemed to be going over his head and out of bounds. But Chapman caught it in a leaping motion, not only saving it but launching it and nailing the dagger to send the game into overtime.
Chapman doesn’t like being reminded of it because the Suns lost in overtime and ultimately lost the series despite his heroics.
He made 36 percent of his 3’s with Phoenix and averaged 12.5 points, 2.5 assists, 2.4 rebounds, and 0.8 steals in purple and orange before retiring due to lingering ankle issues.
