Let’s take a look at five things that could cause the Phoenix Suns to have a horrible season and perform far below expectations.

Every year, a Philadelphia Eagles beat writer from PhillyVoice by the name of Jimmy Kempski writes a series of four pieces. Each one details the worst case scenario for a different team in the NFC East, saying why each team will be a dumpster fire that season.

After the release of every article, angry fans from Philadelphia, Washington, New York, and Dallas send Kempski angry emails when they completely miss the point of the series and think he’s actually projecting their teams to be absolute disasters in the upcoming season.

To prevent this from happening, it’s important to understand the premise. This is not a list of things I think will happen. It’s not a list of bold predictions or an attempt to bash the Phoenix Suns. It’s simply a collection of things that could go wrong for the Suns and a look at what would happen if they did.

With added talent and improving young pieces, people are expecting improvements out of the Suns this season, but it’s certainly not guaranteed, especially if they struggle in some areas.

Inspired by Kempski, we’ll be taking a look at the Suns’ worst case scenario in 2018-19. While I’m fairly optimistic about the Suns this season, I’ll be pushing that aside here. I see them as a 33-35 win team, but this piece will play devil’s advocate and say why the Suns won’t win any more than last year’s league-worst 21 games.
