McDonough promised to revamp the Phoenix Suns – He did it.

On Friday the 20th of June, Ryan McDonough not only made two surprising trades but also guaranteed Davon Reed‘s contract for this coming season. How does the roster look now?
Phoenix Suns General Manager Ryan McDonough said on several occasions since the end of the season that he was looking to revamp the roster. Not only was he going to use the draft as a method, but also through trade and free agency. While he has only signed one player in free agency thus far, Trevor Ariza, he has now made three trades, albeit small ones, and guaranteed the contract of Davon Reed who following last season had seemed like he would not be returning.
With still more trades to potentially come, the roster has already gone through a dramatic turnover and a franchise that tanked for 21 wins last season might finally have a roster that should have reliable depth and competitiveness at every position.
Point guard is the one position that the team most desperately needs to make sure is at a competitive level to help take backcourt pressure off of Devin Booker, while also making sure that rookie big man Deandre Ayton has the ball in the right spots down low, a glaring issue during the Las Vegas Summer League.
While Suns fans had been hoping for a blockbuster trade at some point, the offseason is still young. As of yet no point guards have been acquired aside from rookie Elie Okobo, so at least one move for another veteran could still, and likely will, happen.
That said, the transition in the starting lineup alone from last year to this point in the summer has been dramatic, and the depth on the roster overall has changed quite a bit as well.
Let us dive into what the roster would look like if the season was beginning, both the starting rotation and the bench.
