Tyreke Evans
2018 Stats: 19.4 points, 5.2 steals per game
Good Deal: $24 million, 3 years
Evans has played shooting guard most of his career, but his two most successful years have come with him playing the point (Rookie Year in Sacramento and last year in Memphis).
Evans shot 40 percent from the three last season and brings playmaking and hustle to the court. He isn’t a lockdown defender, but he’s 6-6 and can guard multiple positions.
He was a big time playmaker last season and would take a lot of pressure off Booker. Evans is the best scorer on this list except for a healthy Isaiah, and he could have similar value to that of Eric Bledsoe.
Evans’ downside is that he might be the best player for the Suns to add, which makes his value on the open market rise.
Next: How will free agency affect Elie Okobo’s role with the Suns?
The best point guard option is . . .
The one with the best contract. If the Suns can grab any one of these point guards in free agency they can become a fringe playoff team if the young players develop. However, the Suns shouldn’t sign a Brandon Knight type of deal, even if it means losing out on all of the best options. The contract needs to be short or moveable via trade to retain flexibility in future free agency.
