With NBA free agency approaching, the Phoenix Suns are setting goals. If they’re able to do these five things, July will be considered a success.

This offseason is an important one for the Phoenix Suns. And with free agency fast approaching, it’s time to set some goals.

The Suns have a few positions and roles that still need filling when it comes to the regular rotation. They also need to decide if it’s time to move on from some underperforming young players or hold onto the hope that they can still improve. The signings they make in free agency should give a good indication of where players stand with the team.

The Suns also need to decide if they’re playing the long game or going for a playoff spot right away. If they lock up players long-term, we’ll know they’re looking to make their splash this year rather than maintaining cap space for the future.

There’s also a new coach in town, and he’s going to want to bring in new players to fit his style of play. That’s just another X-factor to watch for in free agency. As we get further into July, the smoke should clear and we’ll have a much better idea of what the final roster will look like.

But regardless of exactly how Igor Kokoskov chooses to round out the edges of the roster, the team’s needs are still clear, so the Suns goals in free agency should be clear as well.

Let’s take a look at the five boxes the Phoenix Suns can check that will make this summer’s free agency period a success.
