Breaking down the Phoenix Suns’ post draft roster
By Adam Maynes
After adding four new players to the roster via the draft (surprisingly, no draft-and-stashes), the Phoenix Suns’ 2018-19 roster is taking shape. This is how it breaks down at the moment with a projected depth chart.
With the addition of four new players from the draft, Deandre Ayton, Mikal Bridges, Elie Okobo, and George King, the Phoenix Suns have the building blocks of a nice looking, young roster, one that looks to develop well over the next few years.
Upgrades at power forward and depth at the wing positions have really made the Suns look like an entirely different team, and Ryan McDonough hasn’t even touched free agency yet or made any trades – each of which are coming.
The best part about this roster is that even though there projectes to be four rookies entering the seasons, while they are still young, they are all now a year older. Devin Booker will be entering his fourth season in the league. T.J. Warren, his fifth. Marquese Chriss and Dragan Bender are about to play their third each while Josh Jackson‘s rookie campaign is fully behind him.
Also rookie Mikal Bridges is one of very few players nowadays to play four full seasons in college and is entering as a 22-year-old rookie, older than every player just mentioned other than Warren.
While both additions and subtractions will further shape the 2018-19 roster, at the moment, there is plenty to look at and investigate how the roster looks right now, and how it might look if there were no major shakeups this offseason beyond what the draft did for the team.
Let’s break the roster down by position:
