5th Pick

Once again, the Dallas Mavericks are a team that needs a lot more than one good first round pick, and the Phoenix Suns are a team with plenty to offer.

T.J. Warren and Marquese Chriss would each find themselves in the starting lineup of Dallas, locations that they will likely lose in Phoenix this coming season. Troy Daniels becomes Dallas’ best backup shooting guard behind Wesley Matthews, and they still receive a first round pick this year, as well as another next year.

While the Dallas Mavericks shouldn’t do anything to hurt the franchise just to help an old friend, Dirk Nowizki also doesn’t want to go out on a god-awful team, even if he understands that they need to hit rock bottom before they can dig themselves out.

That being said, Dallas is adding talent now that doesn’t make them a playoff contender right away, but they are adding talent to continue to build around, two players immediately that make an impact on the roster, while also ridding themselves of a bad contract, Dwight Powell’s. Powell is okay, but Marquese Chriss should be better, plus he’s cheaper now which gives Dallas flexibility.
