No. 1 – Isaac Bonga from Germany (6-9 200)

Season Stats : 43-30-90 shooting line (0.5 triples) for 7.4 pts, 3.4 rebs, 2.4 asts, 1.3 stls and 0.5 blks in 22.1 mins

He’s only 18-years-old and not getting a ton of run as he’s very raw and still in the early phases of his development.

To get a better idea of his capabilities you should look at his per 36-minutes stats (12.1 points, 5.5 rebounds, 3.9 assists, 2.1 steals and 0.8 blocks with 3.9 turnovers and 3.9 fouls). Keep in mind he’s 6′ 9″ with a 7-foot wingspan. He is a point forward with potential to play and guard every position on the court (if he bulks up). He is a good play maker that sees the floor well. His long arms help him execute difficult passes like wrap arounds, skips and bounce passes on the run. He’s very decisive with the ball in his hands.

Isaac is also a good rebounder, a decent defender and scores well on the move. He’s a good athlete but that will show more as he adds weight and fits better into his body as right now the way he moves isn’t too pretty. You close your eyes expecting to feel the pain yourself when you see him get killed on a screen. He plays very wildly and relies on fluidity at the moment.

Bonga needs to improve his shooting and is turnover and foul prone but he’s very unselfish and his skill set and potential are intriguing to say the least as he can fill up the stat sheet as time goes on. He is already getting better as he’s improving at staying in front of smaller players, is working on his shot, getting comfortable with floaters and runners and has shown defensive flashes.

The kid is tough, even with his slight frame he crashes the glass and fights on switches. He has an interesting foundational skill set and has a ton of potential. Think a floor of a more athletic Boris Diaw, a more physical Kyle Anderson or a better form of James Johnson while having a ceiling of a German Kevin Durant.

If he’s still there when the Suns announce their 59th pick, it should no doubt be his name they call.

If the Suns decide to do a draft and stash pick with their final second round selection, they should give all these guys a look. What do you think? Anyone else you think they should consider?
