The Phoenix Suns have four selections in the upcoming draft. GM Ryan McDonough has already hinted at not wanting to add four rookies to the roster, which could mean a draft and stash with the last pick.

In every draft there are foreign and domestic prospects. One of the pluses about choosing a player from overseas is that you can keep their rights but leave them on their current teams to continue developing on their current team before bringing them over when you feel they are ready.

This is called a draft and stash. Let’s look at some names that could be called with this move at the 59th pick.

No. 4 – William McDowell-White from Australia (6-5 185)

Season Stats : 46-28-81 shooting line (1.2 triples) for 12.1 pts, 6.4 asts, 4.7 rebs, 1.9 stls and 2.2 turnovers in 30.1 mins

White is a crafty scorer off the dribble that excels in transition. He’s a really good play maker, a good rebounder for his size, and plays decent defense especially when it comes to getting steals. He needs to improve his shooting (28% from downtown) but he’s a very good free throw shooter (81% from the stripe) and in time could stretch further back.

He’s a tall, skilled point guard, but he’s not very quick or athletic and therefore struggles to guard quicker, more athletic players.

At times, William lacks a degree of aggressiveness and he’s not always comfortable improvising. However, he has time to develop as he’s only 20-years-old. With the right structure and guidance he could have a floor of Elfrid Payton and a ceiling of a poor man’s Steve Nash (not as good of a shot but better defense).

Hey, with the 59th pick, why not take the chance of a young player at a position of need that could develop into what you need?
