The Suns get stuck with the 16th pick

Most people expect the Suns to trade the 16th pick. Whether it’s up or down, it seems unlikely Phoenix actually selects and retains a player at 16. At the very worst, they could probably take a player they like at 16.

But it’s also possible they don’t like anyone on the board and still can’t trade the pick.

Teams view prospects in tiers, and 16 could end up being an awkward spot. The Suns may love most of the players who have already come off the board but see the guys left as far less exciting. If they can’t move up, they could be stuck in a position where there are ten players they like equally on their draft board. Even worse, other teams might feel the same way and have no interest in moving up.

In this case, the Phoenix Suns would be forced to make a selection at 16, and it may be someone they aren’t very high on. Fingers crossed that we aren’t met with this unpleasant surprise on draft day.
