The NBA Draft always comes with some sort of surprise. Whether it’s an unexpected early pick, a player who falls, or a trade no one saw coming, there’s always a team that capitalizes on the unexpected.

With the right preparation, the Phoenix Suns could be that team. With four picks spaced out to span the entire draft and the assets and cap space to do some serious maneuvering, the Suns can move up or down into essentially any pick in the draft.

That makes them the most interesting team on draft night.

Whether it’s a team making a run at one of their picks or the Suns making a run at another pick, no one has as many options as Phoenix, and if a surprise comes about and presents an opportunity, he Suns pounce.

There are also players to watch throughout the draft who, if available later than expected, may prompt the Suns to make a move. Even with just four picks, and one of them thought to be a sure thing, the hypothetical scenarios are endless.

And with some draft night surprises, the Suns could find themselves in a fascinating position. Let’s look at five of these hypothetical surprises and break down what the Suns could do about them.
