One glaring weakness the Phoenix Suns had this past season was at the point guard position. The big names are obvious, but there are several low radar guys that could be acquired in a trade that would help upgrade the position.
The Phoenix Suns went through several point guards this past season. (Do you want to remember how bad the situation was? You do? Really? Then check out this post!)
The only point guards already under contract for this coming season are Brandon Knight, Tyler Ulis and Shaquille Harrison.
Knight will be, hopefully, 100 percent after an ACL injury that kept him out the whole season. However, he could be dealt and playing in a different uniform, so at least at the moment cannot be counted on with any guarantee.
The future of Ulis is up in the air as well after a season of ups and downs. At times he looked like a legitimate backup point guard in the NBA. At other times he looked like the absolute worst shooter the Suns have had since Shaq (and by “Shaq” I don’t mean Harrison, I mean O’Neal).
Speaking of, Harrison is a defensive spark plug and it would be wise for the team to keep him and let him continue to grow, but he isn’t a starter in the NBA so at best he can be the team’s second point guard, although if the team wants to win, he should start the season as at least their third point guard.
With all of these question marks (and making a presumption that they do not draft a ready-made starting point guard), let’s look at some little talked about guys that could provide some solid help this coming season.
