Phoenix Suns 2018 offseason plans Part 3: Free Agency
By Adam Maynes
Jabari Parker
A lot of fans are very interested in the idea of signing Parker this offseason, although the potential cost plus injury history makes him the biggest risk of the power forwards dicsussed.
Of the three, when healthy, Parker is undeniably the best scorer of them all, and in particular the far superior 3-point shooter. Placing him in a starting lineup with Devin Booker and Josh Jackson would make that lineup one of the most potent scoring trios in all the league – especially if Jackson improves his own 3-point shooting this offseason. Adding Parker would potentially be the biggest splash signing in the NBA and if healthy would be a steal, all things considered.
That being said, he has already had two torn ACL’s in the same (left knee), something that historially has killed player’s careers as their knees are almost never the same. It might take a near max contract to acquire him, an amount that is probably too much for any team other than his current Milwaukee franchise due to that injury history.
And yet, if there is any team in the NBA that would be able to get the most out of his health for the longest amount of time, it very well could be the Phoenix Suns, and taking a risk on him by offering a larger contract, might be worth it.
