Marquese Chriss

2017-18 Stats:

7.7 PPG, 5.5 RPG, 1.2 APG, 1.0 BPG

Outlook: See Dragan Bender.

Just like Dragan Bender, Marquese Chriss is not legally old enough to purchase alcohol. And just like Bender, Chriss has had two less than stellar coaches in his two years in the league. Marquese needs more time to settle in and develop his skills, and hopefully the incoming coach will give him that time and attention.

‘Quese showed plenty of flashes this season, especially later in the year as he got back into his rhythm. He has great defensive potential, and offensively he’s barely even scratched the surface of what he can do. Like Dragan, Chriss needs to be given more of a defined role in the team, instead of being told to go out and “develop.”

He has plenty of game experience now, and it’s time for him to hone his craft and start figuring out what he’s best at in this league. Once he does that, other developments will follow. Marquese is far too young to give up on unless he can be used to get a superstar. He has plenty of potential and time to reach it, and the Suns should give him at least until the end of his rookie contract before they make any kind of determination on whether he’s worth keeping or not.
