9. Davon Reed

Chosen with their first second round pick in the 2017 NBA Draft, Reed started the season on the injury list but finished his rehab and came back towards the end of the season. He was not much of a presence and struggled making shots, netting an ugly 29-29-67 shooting line with averages of 3.0 points with 1.9 rebounds, 0.6 assists and 0.5 steals in 11.5 minutes over 21 games. However, he did show some signs of promise. On March 10 at Charlotte, Reed made 5 of 8 shots and nailed 4 treys to the tune of 16 points and 6 rebounds showing he has offensive potential. His defensive potential showed through on March 24th at Orlando when he swiped 5 steals. Now if only he could put it all together.

8. Danuel House Jr

He signed a two-way contract with Phoenix in December and spent the majority of his time in the G-League. He played limited minutes throughout the season, making 43% of his field goal attempts with averages of 6.6 points, 3.3 rebounds and 1.1 assists in 17.5 minutes over 23 games. Towards the end of the season when the team was clearly in tank mode, he got more than his fair share of minutes to see what he could really do. In the last five games of the season he made 49% of his shots and scored 14.6 points per game along with 6.2 rebounds and 3.4 assists in 36.4 minutes.

7. Alec Peters

Alec was the second second round draft pick by the Suns. In 20 games this season, he put up a 38-31-80 shooting line and averaged 4.1 points and 1.9 rebounds in 11.3 minutes. Mainly chosen for his ability to shoot from any where and scoring potential, that was on full display in the last game of the season when he made 8 triples for 36 points. You can’t take too much away from that game but it was quite the demonstration of what his future can look like, yet at the same time was only one game against not so hot competition. What you know for sure after that game though is you want him back next year to see more.

6. Alan Williams

‘Big Sauce’ was injured for almost the entire season but was determined to come back and played in the last five games. He only averaged 4 points and 4.4 rebounds in 14 minutes but he showed enough in 2016-17 that puts him above players 7-12. He is a decent backup big man and he shows so much enjoyment from the bench and his team mates love having him on their side. He’s a hometown guy and you want him to stay here.
