Can Davin Reed and Alec Peters play enough to earn a spot on next year’s roster?

With Devin Booker missing some time as the season winds down, Davon Reed has been getting far more minutes than he had been all season prior.

Alec Peters on the other hand hasn’t been given much run whatsoever.

But if the Suns want to continue to tank, one excuse for losing is that they want to run those two out there as much as possible to get as good a look at them to decide whether or not they will be a part of the roster moving forward.

Although not the same situation as Dragan Bender (he was the fourth overall pick in 2016 whereas Reed and Peters were second round picks), Bender got a ton of run at the end of last season to help figure out where he is in his development and best prepare him for 2017-18.

Davon Reed appears to be getting plenty of playing time as of now, although Peters deserves an equal chance. It will be interesting to watch every game and see how much playing time they get, and whether or not they too can earn a spot on the roster next season, or if their play is strictly out of necessity due to injury, and a means of continuing to help the team lose.
