Josh Jackson can prove that he really is the next Clyde Drexler
Eddie Johnson has regularly compared Josh Jackson to Hall of Famer Clyde Drexler. Devin Booker has been compared to Kobe Bryant.
I’m not saying, I’m just saying.
After dropping a career-high 36 points on a totally depleted Golden State Warriors team, fans could not be more hyped about the future of Jackson in a Phoenix Suns uniform. Josh Jackson and Devin Booker may be the Suns’ All-Star duo of the future.
So could Eddie Johnson’s comparison Jackson to Clyde Drexler be real?
What to watch for with Josh Jackson is how much he embodies that persona and if he can take his game up to that next level prior to a long summer’s nap.
Eddie has also referenced a story from his rookie year under Head Coach Cotton Fitzsimmons. Cotton told him to work hard over his last few games because it carries over into his next season. Johnson didn’t think much of it, but did have a number of good games to close out that season, averaging 14.7ppg. The following season his scoring average jumped from 9.3 points per game to 19.8 points per game and he realized how right Cotton was.

Jackson may be well out of the running for rookie of the year in 2017-18, but there is no reason to believe that he can’t actually develop into that All-Star-caliber player next season, and his final few games might help propel him in that direction.
Scoring 36 points against the Golden State Warriors is one hell of a start.
