Eastern Conference Trade Scenarios for Suns
ATLANTA HAWKS
SMALL – Phoenix Suns send a 2018 2nd round pick (via Toronto) for Isaiah Taylor
With Tyler Ulis and Josh Gray (10-day contract) as their only natural point guards, Phoenix will be looking into ways to acquire another one. At first glance, Taylor’s 40-27-64 shooting line and season averages of 4.4 points and 2.2 assists do not catch the eye. However, the 23-year-old’s per-36 minute numbers of 11.4 points, 5.7 assists and 1 steal are decent and he averaged 21.3 points and 10.3 assists in the G-League on 44% accuracy from down town. The Hawks have Dennis Schroder and Malcolm Delaney so they can spare him while adding a 2nd round pick.
BIG – Suns send Tyler Ulis, Marquese Chriss, Alex Len and a 2018 1st round pick (via Miami) for Dennis Schroder
Schroder would make an intriguing back court with Devin Booker. He’d be an immense upgrade at PG, is only 24 and would fit the youth movement. He has 43-32-83 career shooting splits and is averaging career highs this season with 19.5 points, 6.4 assists and 1.1 steals. Atlanta brings in some promising young guys in the forms of a play making PG, a super athletic PF that could use a change of scenery, a solid potential starting center, another 1st round pick and about 7M in additional cap room. That’s quite a haul.
