The Suns could still trade for a backup center

Although Monroe didn’t get a lot of playing time, that was by design. However, the Suns still need depth in case of emergency. With a wealth of draft picks in the near future, including second round picks that serve very little purpose overall outside of situations like these, it might be prudent to acquire a back end of the roster center for the rest of the season, just in case.

Next: The Suns should target Tyreke Evans in free agency

A late second round pick might snag them a center on someone’s roster who is sitting at the end of the bench collecting dust, so they can let them collect Arizona dust instead (which includes a higher concentration of sediment than other locations due to the dry conditions – or something like that). Don’t worry, they wouldn’t trade a first round pick, or maybe even their own second round pick (they’re not going to risk what they risked with Brandan Wright – although it did work out for them). But Toronto’s second might be enough to get someone to fill the gap on the roster.
