OUT – Kemba Walker and Michael Kidd-Gilchrist
IN – Greg Monroe’s expiring contract, Tyler Ulis, 2018 1st round pick (via Miami) and 2018 1st round pick (via Cleveland)

Why would Charlotte do this?

Michael Jordan has confirmed he is listening to offers for Kemba. The Hornets, in any deal, want to include one of their bigger contracts. MKG is one of those high salary players as he is making $13M this season and next with a $13M player option for 2019 as well. This team would save Charlotte a potential $26M after this season as Monroe’s contract is expiring. They also get a 22-year-old PG that they could develop into a solid play maker and two 1st round picks.

At first glance that doesn’t seem to be much value for Kemba but it’s actually quite a haul considering stars have been acquired for pennies on the dollar lately and Charlotte is dumping a large sum of owed money and could go after say, Elfrid Payton, this summer.
