The most obvious location for either player is to the Cleveland Cavaliers. At this moment they are a defensive mess and actually appear like their reign of Eastern Conference supremacy might be at an end.

DeAndre Jordan is the obvious choice to add for the Cavaliers, however, they might not want to trade the one piece that would make the move occur immediately: the unprotected Brooklyn Nets’ 2018 first round pick. If they don’t want to move it, then the Clippers might just keep walking.

The suitable replacement? Tyson Chandler.

While – of course – the Suns and their fans would love Brooklyn’s pick as well, they aren’t going to pry that away with a year-and-a-half rental of an aging veteran.

Cleveland could offer their own first round pick in the future, although the next available tradable pick wouldn’t be until at least 2021 (something that would not be the worst move for the Suns at all).

Technically the Cavaliers could acquire Chandler in a one-for-one trade and ship Iman Shumprt back to Phoenix. Shumpert is under contract through next season (and is currently injured and rehabbing a torn meniscus), although with a $10+M price tag, his contract would save the Suns a few million dollars this offseason. Throw in that future first round pick, and there might be a deal here to be had.
