Five signs Josh Jackson has arrived

3-point shooting
Prior to his early January benching, Josh Jackson was shooting a below mediocre 23.9% from beyond the arc. While this isn’t an all too surprising number for a rookie (I have oft compared his rookie season to Shawn Marion who shot 18% from 3 his rookie season), he is coming off of a year at Kansas where he shot 37.7% – not bad at all (Marion shot 29.8% in college).
Over his past three games, Jackson has shot an amazing 55.6% recent from beyond the arc, fifth best in the league of any player attempting at least 9 attempts since January 3. This is his best stretch of the season from beyond the arc, and the three 3-pointers he made against Oklahoma City marked his career-high.
Obviously I would not expect this level of shooting accuracy to occur for an extended period of time, but if – based on better shot selection, more confidence, and hopefully still a relatively decent number of attempts per game – Jackson will be able to raise his percentage on the season to a more respectable percentage – preferentially at least near 30.0% (Jackson has currently attempted 97 3’s on the season. If he shoots just 32.9% over his next 97 attempts, he will raise his full-season average to a hair above 30%).
