I really like the prospects of the kind of player Josh Jackson will be in two seasons, and have oft compared him to Shawn Marion – which would be amazing for Phoenix if Jackson ended up in Marion’s class of talent.

And while my comp of Jackson to Marion is partially based on both player’s poor statistical rookie seasons (neither of them can shoot consistently from the outside but Marion’s was particularly bad at 18.2% compared to Jackson’s 25.3%), it is hard to have not expected more from the fourth overall pick in last summer’s draft.

While I never expected Jackson to come in and contend for the team’s scoring title, and his awkward shot is just as inconsistent as is was advertised coming out of college, I thought that Jackson was going to come in a better scorer, and to be honest, a better defender.

While his grade is not as high as maybe some would grade it considering the circumstances, I still not only have high hopes, but fair expectations for the type of career that Josh Jackson should have.
