Let’s get something straight: I have no idea if Triano is the head coach of the future. There is the chance too that he doesn’t even want to be the head coach of the future.

That being said, he has done a hell of a job  with this roster so far, and while they aren’t winning at a great clip, they are performing the way they should have last year.

If Jay Triano were the head coach of the Phoenix Suns in 2016-17 they would have never had the opportunity to draft Josh Jackson.

Not only do they have an offense that compliments their two best players in Devin Booker and T.J. Warren, but there has been a marked improvement in discipline, both Dragan Bender and Marquese Chriss have taken steps forward, and the team seems to finally be moving in a very good direction.

No one can tell me that another head coach would do more with this roster as currently constructed as he has. Therefore, even while they are still losing more than winning, Triano gets as high a grade as possible.

Midseason Grade: A+
