The only player on the Dallas Mavericks even worth trading for, at least if you’re the Phoenix Suns, is Dennis Smith Jr. A point guard who many Suns fans coveted in the 2017 NBA Draft, and who Owner Robert Sarver supposedly liked best, due to his size, and above average offensive qualities, might make him the best point guard in the league someday.

The problem though is that the Mavericks just drafted him six months ago, he just recorded his first career triple-double, and the Mavs know full well that he could be great someday, so why give up on him?

The only hope to get him would be to give up a lot, so I would venture to guess that offering Jackson, Ulis (or Canaan), and a this year’s first round pick, might get the conversation going. I know that’s a ton  for someone who has only played in 30 games, but while he’s probably not untouchable, the Mavericks aren’t just going to let him go.

How badly might you want a young star starting point guard to line up next to Booker?
