How the Suns can pull off a trade for a star

I wrote about this over the summer, and speculated that if the Jimmy Butler in Minnesota experiment didn’t work out he could be the kind of star player that the Suns could sneak in and acquire. Six weeks into the season and it seemed that Butler wasn’t clicking, and there was a fleeeeeeting  chance that maybe Minnesota would be willing to answer phone calls for him.

Then the calendar flipped to the middle of December and he has been on fire, the team has gone gang-busters, and Minnesota is climbing up the standings.

Wiggins isn’t going anywhere, neither is Towns, and there isn’t another “star” on the roster.

Nothing here for the Suns.
