How the Suns can pull off a trade for a star

Memphis Grizzlies
There is a reason that the Memphis Grizzlies are currently vying for the worst record in the league along with the Phoenix Suns: They too don’t have enough stars.
Sure, they have Mike Conley and Marc Gasol, but are either of them “stars” at this point in their careers? They’re both good, don’t get me wrong. But you wouldn’t consider rebuilding a team around them. They are best suited to be on a veteran roster already competing for a title, not on one attempting to rebuild. Even if they landed the first overall pick this season and drafted a star, by the time that player was ready to lead the team into the playoffs, it’ll be time to reset the roster anyway.
I expect both Conley and Gasol to eventually be traded, if not this season, then next. But neither to the Phoenix Suns. They would both be upgrades at this moment, but neither would be a part of the Suns’ core for very long, they would cost way too much to acquire, and each would cost way too much financially to keep around.
