Reason #1: Age

BOSTON, MA – OCTOBER 18: Greg Monroe
BOSTON, MA – OCTOBER 18: Greg Monroe

With Eric Bledsoe, the complaint was always that he “did not fit the timeline”. At 27-years-old, a full six-to-eight years older than Devin Booker, Marquese Chriss, Josh Jackson and Dragan Bender, Bledsoe’s prime certainly did not line up with the rest of the Suns young talent.

So naturally, the Phoenix Suns got a younger player in return for Bled, right?

Greg Monroe is the exact same age as Eric Bledsoe. They both entered the NBA at the same time, debuting in 2010-2011. With this trade, the Suns failed to adequately prepare themselves for the future, instead choosing to focus on the non-competitive present.
