Robert Sarver has been strangely AWOL through all of the turmoil that has engulfed the team over the past week.

Granted, McDonough offered up an excuse as to why Sarver wasn’t around to take questions, that he was in a banking meeting of some kind, but the fact of the matter is, Sarver could have made one phone call to any number of local sportscasters and offered at least a brief interview at any point over a 24-48 hour period, and they would have taken, and broadcast, the call.

Is it possible that Sarver is already trying to distance himself from all of this mess because he knows that a new owner will come in and eventually be the one to clean it up?

Why further exhaust yourself with the minutia of the franchise when you’re going to be walking away anyway and pretending that you had nothing to do with the mess that had been created under your ownership?

Who knows why Sarver hasn’t said a word, and honestly it really doesn’t matter. He wanted to step back a little a few years ago and he truly has. He hired McDonough to essentially be the face of the franchise, and that he has done.

Yet at the same time, when a head coach is fired and a star player demands out in the most awkward and passive-aggressive way possible, you’d think that the owner would have a say.

Or maybe not, because he doesn’t plan on owning the franchise any longer.
