Most Suns fans were disappointed during the lottery when the team moved down two spots.

The disappointment mostly came from the fact that most fans wanted a shot at Kansas star freshman Josh Jackson. It was clear Jackson fits the team the best out of all the prospect projected to go in the top five.

In a draft night full of surprises, Jackson somehow managed to land in the desert. Although Suns General Manager Ryan McDonough might have something to do with Jackson not working out for the Boston Celtics who picked 3rd overall.

“You guys know my connection to the Boston Celtics and the respect I have for Danny Ainge, but you guys also know how competitive I am, and it is a competition. The process is what it is, and we played by the rules, I guess. I’m just thrilled Josh Jackson is sitting next to me and is a member of the Phoenix Suns.”

During the preseason Josh Jackson played his hearts out and left his mark on the court every single game. The former Jayhawk averaged 14.0 ppg, 5.8 rpg, while shooting 40.0% from downtown.

Those numbers won’t jump at you when you look at the box score. But, it’s about how he got the 14 points and 6 rebounds per game. Jackson was constantly attacking the rim and was showing his motor all throughout every game. He was also hitting tough pull-up mid range jumpers and hitting catch and shoot threes, something most scouts said he needed to work on.
