This week I was once again joined by Michael Schwartz of ESPN, and the founder of Valley of the Suns – the knowledge he provides is unparalleled and his appearance alone makes this episode a must watch/listen.
Phoenix Suns
Opening with the craziness of the offseason and the most recent trade of Carmelo Anthony to the Oklahoma City Thunder, we moved on to discuss what the Phoenix Suns’ place in the Western Conference would be if the team were to remain entirely intact but with the addition of LeBron James. Our opinion is that the Suns might be the fourth or fifth team in the West. What do you think?
We then moved onto Alex Len and the fortuitous situation he’s been placed with the unfortunate injury to Alan Williams. Can he use the possible wealth of newfound and unexpected time in the wake of Williams’ injury and make an argument for an extension next offseason? Or is he a lame duck regardless and the Suns will likely play him more sparingly in favor of younger, more key pieces of the core to develop them for the team’s future?
T.J. Warren was also surprisingly given a contract extension that will begin in the summer of 2018, to wit we discussed whether or not his future is a worthwhile investment, or a potential hinderance for the team should they want to go after a superstar in next summer’s conceivably loaded unrestricted free agency class. (I’ll give you a hint: we generally disagreed.)
