And what of a postion-less lineup?
There has been plenty of talk within NBA circles that the league is not only moving towards (and may already be all the way there) a position-less league. Many teams are already not setting starting lineups in the traditional sense. Neither the Golden State Warriors nor the Cleveland Cavaliers have a point guard of the traditional ilk that has led them to their respective championship glories.
Should the Suns find themselves moving in that direction (a thinking that I have argued on behalf for the greater part of the last calendar year) and play Devin Booker at the “point,” then they too could potentially place both T.J. Warren and Josh Jackson in the same starting lineup, depending on who else is fitted around them.
In this situation, Josh Jackson could potentially play in the shooting guard position with Warren fitted in at the three, although with defensive matchups they could even each move up one spot, or flip spots as well. Honestly, the pretzle-based mashups that the coaching staff could do to get their best players on the court at one time would be endless. If the team can get it’s offense into something far more free flowing than it’s current incarnation, and thus lesson the need for a true point guard, or set lineups where Jackson can play at the four and keep Warren at the three (which at least for the time being is certainly more likely) then the two could play together for the better part of the season.
