Three Goals for The Phoenix Suns Next Season
What are three realistic goals for the young and upcoming Phoenix Suns for the 2017-2018 season, and is winning the only thing on the young Suns’ mind?
With preseason and training camp drawing near, most teams have a clear vision on what they want to achieve next season. While winning is certainly atop of most team’s checklists, the Suns are one of the few who has a different approach when it comes towhat they hope to accomplish in 2017-18.
Owner Robert Sarver previously said that they won’t sign any big free agents this summer. So far, he and his crew have stuck to their word as outside of a brief flirtation with both Blake Griffin and Paul Millsap, which probably wasn’t much more than a mutual interest to use each other knowing full well that no signings would occur, the Suns haven’t approached or reigned in any notable free agents.
The Suns did have a productive and interesting draft night back in June, however. They selected Josh Jackson (4th), Davon Reed (32nd), and Alec Peters (54th), each who have now signed, and should Reed come back healthy at some point, a trio of young players who stand a good chance of seeing solid minutes at some point this season (of course not withstanding the presumption that Josh Jackson might be a starter).
Thus with the roster set to continue on the path of rebuild, the team’s expectations are going to generally be vastly different from most others.
So as we near the start of training camp, let’s take a look at three goals they can realistically achieve next season.
