Honorable Mentions:
- De’Aaron Fox, Sacramento Kings
- Shaun Livingston, Golden State Warriors
- Milos Teodosic, Los Angeles Clippers
- Tyler Ulis, Phoenix Suns
To give a bit of insight into the rationale behind these rankings, only the predicted starters made the top five. These four players are the best of the best backups in the division.
De’Aaron Fox looked extremely impressive in the Las Vegas Summer League and he will undoubtedly play a big role in Kings coach John Stevens’ plans this season.
Shaun Livingston is a perfect fit in his backup guard role in Golden State. Livingston isn’t quite good enough to be a starter, but he truly excels at coming off the bench. Plus, who wouldn’t want to be a role player on the Warriors?
Milos Teodosic is a bit of an unknown to casual basketball fans. However, a brief look into some of his European highlights demonstrate his flair for exceptional passes. Now, imagine Teodosic passing to Blake Griffin and DeAndre Jordan instead of his former European teammates. That’s a scary thought.
Finally, we are all very familiar with Tyler Ulis. He had a great rookie year playing behind Eric Bledsoe and will certainly be in an even larger role this season for the Phoenix Suns.
