The Phoenix Suns new uniform line has released this offseason and the team is about to reveal their new alternative jersey, but what will they look like?

Earlier this offseason the Phoenix Suns released a video of their new association and icon edition uniforms. The new uniforms are sleek and is everything that the Suns fans would want in uniforms. However, the reveal of the new Nike jerseys made fans wanting more. Most importantly, an alternative jersey like other Suns teams had in the past. Well, fans will only have to wait till mid Sept. for that alternative uniform to arrive. Until then, it is time for some way too early design predictions.

Before predicting what the new uniform will look like, it is important to review the two current jerseys and the former alternative ones as well.

When introduced in the video above, both current jerseys have a story behind their names. The icon edition’s story is “representing our rich heritage”, where as the association edition’s is “paying homage to the NBA”. In the same video it does not reveal the name of the new uniform, but it does give a story, “inspired by the athlete’s mindset”. That is a strong story to go along side a jersey. Having a strong story paints a strong image to what this uniform could look like.

As for past alternatives, looking at the uniforms from the Steve Nash era and forward should give fans a decent direction of what to expect.

Based on the video, the Phoenix Suns want this uniform to stand out from the association and icon editions. The “PHX” in the middle of the Suns alternative jerseys during the Nash era made the team stand out whenever they wore them. Having the “PHX” certainly gives a revival to the team’s past glory and a strong symbol to stand by. The question is what color would go best with this logo?

Before everyone gets excited, it is doubtful that the Suns reintroduce sleeves into the uniform theme. However, the Orange as the predominant color and is something fans should almost expect. The Suns could change and go with a stronger color like black, but it is unlikely they use black as their first alternate.

As cool as a black alternate jersey would be, it would be unlike the Suns not go with orange, but I am not gonna rule out black either.

When it comes down to it, Phoenix Suns fans will have to wait until Sept. 15 to see what exactly the alternative uniforms look like. After reviewing the two current jerseys and the past alternate ones, it should give fans a better idea of what to expect.
