One stat for every Sun to average a career-high in 2017-18
By Adam Maynes
Eric Bledsoe
Assists average
After bumping his career-high single season average in assists last season to 6.3, it is entirely possible that with two specific improvements team-wide, Bledsoe could push that average up even higher.
First, if the Suns start to get Devin Booker involved in far more screen and roll’s for open three’s, ala Klay Thompson’s bread and butter, that alone could help get Bled an extra assist or two each night. Then include the fact that the Suns were, overall, a terrible shooting team last year, and should that improve at any discernible rate, then Bled will be a statistical beneficiary.
I’m not going to be too homerish and predict that Eric Bledsoe will suddenly average 8+ dimes a game, shattering his 2016-17 record. But there is no doubt that it is easily possible for him to bump up to about 6.8 – 6.9 minimum, and with a couple stretches of good assist numbers, reach above 7 per game from time-to-time.
