Who really should be on the all-time Suns team?
By Adam Maynes
Dick Van Arsdale – PG/SG
On the NBA2k roster this is where Larry Nance would be placed. But let’s be honest: on the actual all-time Suns roster, he wouldn’t be here. For as great as he was in his prime, no Suns fans would ever place prime Hawkins, Stoudemire, or Chamber behind Nance. So, this is where Dick Van Arsdale receives his rightful place on the roster.
A Ring of Honor member and all-around very good player, Van, like many on the all-time rosters, played in an era without a 3-point line. In his prime he was a good scorer and all-around offensive genius, who in the 90’s might actually have put up similar statistics to Jason Kidd.
Because of this, if he had an outside shot, he too would be able to either play point guard or shooting guard, which makes his inclusion all that much more important for positional and opponent matchups.
