Back in Kentucky, Tyler Ulis was the guy that ran the show. Especially in his sophomore year where he averaged a little over seven assists per game. Things are different now in the NBA, his frame keeps him from being a consistent starter on any team as he is listed at 5’7 ft and 150 lbs.

Ulis will take on a bigger role next year with the injury to Brandon Knight and the departure of Leandro Barbosa. He will be tasked to run the offense of the second unit and his job is to make sure everyone gets involved.

It’s certainly a task he’s familiar with.

Post all-star break Ulis averaged 13.2 ppg and 7.2 apg while playing 32.0 mpg. Respectable numbers for a 5’7 rookie point guard. And if we only take a look at the way he played in April, he put up 20.7 ppg and 6.8 apg.

He will always be the smallest guy on the court but that won’t stop him from being the toughest at the same time. In college he was named SEC defensive player of the year. It just shows how much grit Ulis plays with on a nightly basis.
