Arizona’s premier soccer club, Phoenix Rising FC, are, quite literally, rising.  Formerly Arizona United, the club went through a major rebrand over the last year. They have a new ownership group, highlighted by rapper, producer, and musician Diplo, Fall Out Boy bassist Pete Wentz, MLB pitcher Brandon McCarthy and international superstar (and Phoenix Rising player) Didier Drogba.

On the field, Phoenix has seen mixed success. Currently, the club sits at 11th in the Western Conference table, but are still only three points out of a playoff berth.

Looking at the management, the Rising are too young to have any real issues between their front office and the fan base. While that may be a positive in a public relations sense, their lack of longevity in Phoenix is what has them so low on this list.

That could all change in the future. Major League Soccer, the United States’ division one soccer league – one tier above USL – are accepting expansion bids. Phoenix has made a bid and is definitely hoping to make the move to MLS.

With a rapidly growing fan base in a rapidly growing sport, Phoenix Rising FC is clearly a team to watch in the Valley.
