Cleveland Cavaliers – March 13, 2018

In our final game, LeBron James and company come to town. Unlike the prior games on this list, this contest may be significant to the future of the Suns.  On July 19th, the Phoenix Suns hired former Suns player and LeBron’s greatest teammate he’s ever had in James Jones as vice president of basketball operations.  Many have speculated that this move will make Phoenix a player for LeBron James in the summer of 2018.

Then there is the Kyrie Irving angle.  The rumors of a Irving to Phoenix have died down since Irving is not willing to commit long term to any team he is traded too. The reality is that the Suns may still explore such a deal, thus potentially changing the dynamics of this match-up. If Kyrie is on the Suns come this match-up then LeBron may try to join the 70 point club himself in revenge against Irving.

The final wrinkle of Suns versus Cavaliers is how each team’s strength of schedule for this 2017-2018 season are on complete opposite sides of the spectrum.

If these numbers can tell us anything, it is that the Phoenix Suns are in for another rough season. The silver-lining is that this iteration of Phoenix Suns basketball is young, athletic, and not afraid of anyone they face.  Between Booker, Jackson, and Chriss, expect the competitive juices to be flowing for all 82 games.
