This week the Phoenix Suns unveiled their long-awaited new uniforms that the players will begin wearing this upcoming season, their 50th in the NBA.

With such breaking news we hold a special Valley of the Suns Live! episode and speak to you, the fans, live on Twitter and Periscope – and you can’t really get much bigger than an entirely new look!

In 2013 the Suns re-designed their jerseys from the Kidd/Nash-era, with the help of Adidas, a combination of the franchise’s original two looks. With the usage of the fireball stripes across their chests and the Phoenix rises logo on the sides of their shorts, the uniforms were an homage to their original two looks in the past, that on it’s own re-energized their look overall.

One of the great disappointments for most fans, however, is that for both the home uniform, the orange third jersey, as well as the home court (until last season), there was no purple. The Suns’ long-time second primary color was replaced with black, that both took away from the true visual tradition of their history, as well as giving the players and the court itself somewhat of a Halloween feel.

This new incarnation loses the black entirely on both the home and away uniforms (each team will have two secondary jersey sets that have yet to be released, black still of course be one of the two options), while also entirely brightening up the purple of the jerseys to a level that they have not been since 1992. The uniforms are clean, crisp, simple,  and an unquestioned tribute to the uniforms that the franchise wore for it’s first 24 years in existence.

It seems that most Suns fans are very excited about the new look and are ready to not only see their favorite players rocking them this upcoming season, but purchase similar apparel that they can wear themselves.
