Point Guard
Starter: Charlie Scott
Scott started his professional basketball career playing in the American Basketball Association for the Virginia Squires from 1970-72. He made the leap to the NBA at the tail end of the 71-72 season joining the Phoenix Suns in a trade. Scott played for Phoenix from the 71-72 season through the 74-75 season.
He averaged 24.8 points per game (PPG), 5.3 assists per game (APG) and 4.1 rebounds per game (RPG) while shooting a 45% field goal percentage (FG%) leading the team in scoring all three years. His 25.3 points per game average in 1972-73 is still the fifth highest single season average in franchise history. That’s a pretty legit stat line and it earned him the starting spot on this 70’s Suns dream team.
He would eventually be traded to the Boston Celtics for Paul Westphal. Not a bad swap at all.
