The Suns went for a very classic color scheme on these home and away (or “Association” and “Icon”) jersey tops. Starting at the top of the jersey and working our way down, the first noticeable thing is the Nike Swoosh. This will be the NBA’s first year with Nike as their official jersey provider. The world-famous apparel brand will outfit all 2017-18 jerseys out of new, lighter, recycled material.

Next, moving down from the Swoosh, we see the main attraction: the chest font. Phoenix went for a more retro font on both of these jerseys, differing from the last incarnation’s attempt at modern font design.

Down from the Suns/Phoenix font, we see another new take. Instead of having an accent design distracting from the numbers, like the 2016-17 jersey, Nike chose to have a simpler number layout. There are no flares, lines or shapes drawing your attention away from the clean and crisp number on the front of the jersey.
