Re-Drafting Every Suns 1st Rd Pick Final Part: 2011-2016
By Tim Holstad
2011, 13th Pick
Who The Suns Took:
Markieff Morris, Power Forward, Kansas
Career Stats:
448 GP, 11.9 PPG, 5.6 RPG, 1.7 APG, 44.7% FG
Who The Suns Should Have Taken:
Kawhi Leonard, Small Forward, San Diego State – Originally taken by the Indiana Pacers with the 15th overall pick
Career Stats:
398 GP, 16.4 PPG, 6.2 RPG, 2.3 APG, 49.5% FG
Markieff Morris became one of the most hated players to ever play for the Phoenix Suns. He has a terrible shot selection, he is charged with more technical fouls than rebounds – it seems like, – and he basically caused the Suns to implode with his drama. Not only is Kawhi Leonard better in every statistical category, but he’s right now one of the top-five players in the NBA, as well as arguably the best defender in the league. His humility and leadership would be so helpful to the current Suns team.
