5. Shawn Marion – Arya Stark
The Matrix was perhaps the most underappreciated and underestimated player of his day. Although he was the third wheel of the run and gun Suns, he was a critical aspect of it. Perhaps the best defensive player on those teams, he was also the most versatile and perhaps the most athletic. He didn’t need plays called for him in order to score or to make a huge impact on the court. In fact, you could barely notice him and then realize toward the end of the game that he filled up each area of the stat sheet. Nash and Amar’e drew all of the attention, but if you didn’t respect Marion, he would make you pay.
Arya most represents what Marion brought to the table for the Suns. With her training from the Faceless Men, she is able to take on various forms in order to strike her target without anyone knowing she is ever there. Plus, everyone consistently underestimates Arya, assuming that she is incapable because she is a small girl. She has quickly proven otherwise. She may not be as quiet as the Matrix generally was, but Arya is learning that actions speak louder than words.
